MANILA, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Three people died and two others are missing after a truck plunged into a river in the municipality of Bontoc in Mountain Province in the northern Philippines early on Monday morning, authorities said.
In a report, the Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the light-duty commercial truck carrying five people, including the driver, was transporting workers to a construction site when it crashed into two vehicles parked on the roadside while navigating a curve on an uphill stretch of the mountainous road around 6 a.m. local time. The truck then veered off the road, fell into a 100-meter deep ravine, and landed in the river.
Rescue workers pulled out three bodies from the truck submerged in deep river waters, while a search is on to find the two other missing truck passengers, added the report. ■
