LODZ, Poland, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Polish Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Glinski on Wednesday emphasized the need to increase cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC).

At the 3rd CEE Countries and China Cultural and Creative Industries Forum opened in Lodz, central Poland, on Wednesday, Glinski said that "I am really happy about the initiative of China and the states of CEE region to create a dialogue space in the field of creative industries."

Glinski said the forum is an opportunity to think together about what mechanisms should be introduced to facilitate the cooperation in the area of creative ideas.

Li Jiashan, Executive Dean of National Institute of Cultural Development at Beijing International Studies University said China and CEE countries have great potential for cultural exchange, however, imports and exports of the Chinese cultural products mainly concentrate in few countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania. Therefore, there is a need to develop the cultural exchange.

Entitled "Creative revitalization", this edition of the forum focuses on changes taking place in cities through creative sectors as well as on the issues of cooperation in design, film, new media, video games and music.

More than 100 participants from China and CEE countries attended the forum.

The five-day forum is divided into two parts, held parallelly in Lodz and Katowice, between June 12 and 16.
